M-34 Productions and La MaMa ETC invite you to a work-in-progress:

VERY FINE PEOPLE

THE TRIAL OF THE TIKI TORCH NAZIS

September 28/29
3pm + 7pm

La MaMa ETC
47 Great Jones St.

August 2017. Unite The Right: a rogues gallery of the American alt-right, neo-Confederates, neo-Nazis, White Nationalists, and Aryan Identitarians  gather in Charlottesville, Virginia. They carry tiki torches and chant “Jews will not replace us.” Violence and pandemonium. One attendee drives his car into a crowd of counter-protestors, killing one woman and injuring dozens. Then-president Donald Trump says that there were “very fine people on both sides.”

October 2021. Sines v. Kessler: the event organizers are sued in civil court by nine injured parties. They are accused of “conspiracy to commit racially motivated violence.” The trial is a baffling, chaotic farce.

Please join us on September 28th + 29th at La MaMa for a work-in-progress reading of the trial's closing statements.

All four performances will present different material, read by different performers.

Audience members will be free to come and go during the reading. Livestream details TBA.

Attendance is free but seats are limited.

The workshop spans the weekend of September 28/29.
Please indicate the presentations you intend on attending.
